The sites above are powered by Drupal. 'Dorp' in Dutch means village but the chap who started it registered the name as 'Drop' and so Drupal is the misspelt Dutch word for drop. Which goes to prove that computer people are not much good at English, or Dutch, and that's why they do computers.
It is comprised of one file containing hand-coded HTML, or hieroglyphics if you prefer, plus one style sheet that puts everything in boxes and gives it some colour.
The links on the left share the same code. There are 6,700+ files that took 5 hours to load and configure, plus endless hours to learn how.
You can change themes at any time or have different colours for the same theme. You can have revolving banners and galleries of pictures. When you click on a picture it can expand to fill the whole page. You want flowers coming out, you want fireworks? No problem.
Your website should be as dynamic as your business.
You can edit text at any time and not see any code. Even better, you can load up coloured catalogues to your site before you get to read them. How dynamic do you want it?
Hello, my name is Michael. I have two sons. I had a dog but he died. He was a cocker spaniel named Joe Cocker and he used to sing 'You can leave your fur on'. After we buried him I went inside but then heard the Tap! Tap! Tap! of a hammer and chisel. The younger son was making a headstone for Joe's grave. The older one was holding up his mobile phone. After a while he showed it to his brother: a friend of theirs had already seen the picture on Facebook and had sent a message saying how sorry she was.
For me, a picture is something you take with a camera. You wait for the roll of 24 to finish and then send the film off for processing. You wait again until it gets back. Only then can you put the second print in an envelope and send it off to Aunt Jessie.
Now, think about it, which one more closely resembles your concept of a website? Is it dynamic or dead? Do you depend on someone called a webmaster who charges you for every change you make or do you use modern technologies that are under your control and that reflect the dynamic nature of your business?

By the end of 2010, more people were using Facebook as a search engine than were using the Google text search, and YouTube was even bigger. People have found new uses for new technology and that has changed their underlying concepts. Strategic change first disrupts the old system before reintegrating it on a new basis, and this brings lots of grief to those who rely on the old technology and who continue to operate according to the old concepts.
As the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, has said, the National Broadband Network will bring massive benefits to the health industry — but this is a strategic change, and you wouldn't want to be left behind. If you stay Web 1 you will have maximum grief. Get the technology. Get the practice. Find out how video, audio and whatever else works for you and how it affects your relationship with your clients. Prepare for the future.
